Spring had definitely arrived with a beautiful clear blue sky for today’s game.
We were again joined by Wells, but a depleted side saw us borrowing players from Melksham to allow us to play 15-a-side.
It was clear within the first few minutes that this was going to be a challenging game with the first try being scored within the first two minutes. But the girls kept their structure and battled on.
There was some great rucking and some great tackling. A particularly impressive tackle from Izzy M-C saw her sprint down the line to stop the run of a Melksham player who was on for a try. There was also great tackling by Ellie and Tilly.
Despite the score the girls kept their heads and spirits high and continued to fight throughout the second half where they were rewarded with three tries, two of which were excellently converted by Ellie. The excitement on her face and the reaction of her teammates was a joy to see.
The game ended 54-19 to Melksham who were by far the stronger team on the day. But Keynsham/Wells girls put on a resilient display, well done girls.
