Sunday’s match against North Somerset Barbarians saw the girls get their 15 mins of fame as we welcomed ITV camera to get an insight on the progress the keynsham girls had made in the last nine months. the game was a fast paced, end-to-end affair which saw Keynsham, captained this week by Grace M, come out on top with a final score of 61-59. Some quick runs saw the Barbarians take an early lead, but Keynsham held their nerve and were soon tackling with strength and determination. This 9-a-side game kept everyone on the edge of their seats as the game switched from Barbarians leading to Keynsham nudging ahead through some fantastic tries by Izzy P, whose speed down the wing is hard to contend with. This was backed up by some excellent defensive work by the Keynsham girls, particularly in the centre of the pitch.
By the end of the 2nd quarter, Keynsham had their noses in front, and it remained that way for the rest of the game, despite becoming nail-biting in the last 5 minutes of the match.
Some excellent tackling and play by Issy G on her debut saw her awarded the players player of the match, with Izzy P receiving the coach’s player of the match for not only her tries but also her determination to not let the opposition get past her.
